Rhino is increasingly being accepted by carriers, network equipment vendors and IT developers as the ideal basis for next generation network infrastructure software. The main strengths of Rhino over alternative approaches, and which are driving market adoption are the openness, richness and completeness of the programming model; interoperability with fixed, mobile and IP networks; the portability of services; the asynchronous programming model; and carrier grade resilience and performance. Rhino 2.0 builds on the previous 1.4.x releases from OpenCloud. The main focus for Rhino 2.0 is compliance to the up-coming JSLEE 1.1 specification. Rhino 2.0 is built to comply with JAIN SLEE 1.1 but as the Specification has yet to be finally released it is impossible for any vendor to claim compliance with JSLEE 1.1. This Rhino 2.0 Developer Preview release therefore does not claim to be compliant This release is targeted at developers needing to develop Telco applications in an advanced and flexible event driven application server. There are many new capabilities and features coming in Rhino 2.0 and the Developer Preview release is intended to provide developers early access to these.
